1. Protection of your personal data

Sigedis asbl/vzw, with registered office at Place Victor Horta/Victor Hortaplein 11 (P3), 1060 Brussels, is committed to respecting personal privacy and protecting your personal data.

Our policy on the protection of individuals when processing personal data is based on Belgian legislation, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (also known as the GDPR).

2. For what purposes do we collect, process and store your personal data?

Sigedis acts within the framework of its legal duties. For further information, please refer to the web page "LEGAL TEXTS".

We process your information to fulfil our legal duties through various processing activities:

2.a. Contact form

If you use our contact form, Sigedis processes the personal information you provide via the form. This information is only used for this purpose and it is deleted once your file has been closed.

2.b. Newsletter

If you subscribe to one of our newsletters, your email address will be stored for this purpose. If you wish to object to this information being stored, you can unsubscribe at any time by specifying which newsletter you wish to unsubscribe from and sending an email to info@sigedis.fgov.be.

2.c. Processing of career and supplementary pensions records

This information is processed in accordance with the policy described in the aforementioned GDPR regulation.

3. What personal data do we process?

We process:

  • Your personal information from the national register or the BIS register: Surname, First name, etc.
  • Your contact details.
  • Your career information such as: information about your periods of employment, including salaries and bonuses, information about periods when you were not working provided that these are covered by a social security status, information about your traineeships, apprenticeships and student jobs, information about your military service and all other career information that is needed to grant and calculate social security entitlements and qualifications, diplomas obtained and training courses attended and any electronic documents relating to employment.
  • Information about supplementary pensions, such as membership of a pension scheme, accrued entitlements, amounts paid, contributions, costs and investment returns.

Most of the personal data processed by Sigedis is supplied either by the BCSS/KSZ, directly by a partner approved by the Information Security Committee (ISC), or by you.

4. To whom may we communicate your personal data?

The personal data that we collect is always processed in a confidential way. Personal data is not shared, except to meet our legal or contractual obligations and with the following recipients (non-exhaustive list):

  • public institutions such as the Federal Pensions Service (SFP/FPD), Crossroads Bank for Social Security (BCSS/KSZ), Department of Social Security (ONSS/RSZ), FSMA, FPS Finances and the National Institute for the Social Security of the Self-employed (NISSE);
  • the pension organisation (insurer or pension fund) that communicated your information to the second-pillar database (database of occupational pension funds) in the context of mypension.be;
  • the organiser of your supplementary pension in the context of mypension.be;
  • your employer or social secretariat in the context of a request for identification;
  • third parties that you have authorised to collect this information;
  • other third parties with express authorisation from the Data Protection Authority (such as bailiffs or court officials).

The information is also used to produce reports and thematic research. When this is done, this always uses anonymous global statistics, and personal information is never used in a way that would enable individuals to be identified.

We will never share your information for commercial purposes without your prior explicit consent.

5. Sending information outside the EU or the European Economic Area (EEA)

If your information is shared with countries outside the EU or the EEA, it is only to comply with the legal or contractual obligations of the SFP, Sigedis or the NISSE and adequate guarantees of confidentiality are provided in the area of privacy protection.

6. How long is your information stored?

Your information will be stored for as long as is necessary to comply with the requirements of social security legislation..

7. How to claim your rights under the GDPR

Sigedis asbl/vzw acts in accordance with the law in all its operations and in the performance of its duties. Within the limits set out in the legislation, you are entitled to:

  • access your personal data;
  • ask for your personal data to be deleted or modified;
  • restrict processing of your personal data;
  • object to processing of your personal data.

Insofar as this does not conflict with a legal obligation or the public interest, your request will be complied with and processed.

8. How do I file a complaint?

You have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (DPA) if you suspect that your personal data is not being processed in accordance with the current legislation.
